Saturday Adult Bible Study (B.E.A.C.H. Class)

6:00pm to 6:45pm before each Saturday Service

Teacher: Lance Rengel
Current Study: The Book of Galatians

B.E.A.C.H. is an acronym which stands for Bible, Evangelism, Apologetics, and Church History.

BIBLE

The Bible is the core from which we teach.  It is God's Word.  Everything we need to know about God and the Christian faith are found in its pages.  We therefore encourage a thorough study of the Bible.

EVANGELISM

Every believer in Jesus Christ should be in the practice of sharing his or her faith with others—this is the heart of evangelism.   The B.E.A.C.H. class helps Christians by equipping them with skills to be more effective in their ability to share the gospel of Jesus Christ.

APOLOGETICS

Apologetics is the ability to give answers to tough questions.  Christians should be able to effectively defend their beliefs.   The Bible says we should “always be ready to give an answer for the hope that lies within us”   The B.E.A.C.H.  class helps Christians find answers to tough questions, thereby strengthening their confidence in the faith they profess and developing good debating skills when challenged by opposing views.

CHURCH HISTORY

When you become a Christian, not only do you enter into a relationship with God, but you enter into a relationship with a new family of people, the church.   While this new relationship is normally built within the a local congregation, the church, in the universal sense, is rich in historical significance.  As a member of the universal church, each believer should have a good knowledge of its history--to appreciate the profound legacy of past events that have greatly influenced the mission and the progress of Christ’s church in the world.  Knowledge of church history is also a powerful tool in sharing one’s faith with those who have serious questions about Christianity.  Therefore, the B.E.A.C.H. class, will give each participant a good understanding of church history--from the apostolic age to the present day, including the development of church creeds and doctrines, the canonization of the Bible, the Crusades, the Eastern Orthodox Church, the Reformation and the rise of various denominations and cultures that have adopted the Christian faith.

Lance Rengel, an elder of Lighthouse Church has been teaching the B.E.A.C.H. class since September 1999.   The class in general is a discussion group, utilizing various teaching aids, audio-visual presentations, and study guides.
